New Tunes for a New Year

As it is the first day of 2011, my thoughts have turned to what the future is going to bring us. Of course, this new year will be filled with new music throughout by many veteran and new acts alike. I’ve decided to compile a list of artists who have promised us new material in 2011 so all of you can watch for their new releases.

All Time Low- This extremely popular pop-punk outfit had a fantastic 2010, touring all over the country in support of their most recent album, Nothing Personal. The band has already announced that their latest effort, Dirty Work, will be released in March and the band will be touring with Yellowcard, The Summer Set and Hey Monday throughout the spring. Be sure to check out All Time Low’s first major label release this year and definitely catch them live if you can.

The Cab- The members of The Cab have definitely had some ups and downs since the release of their debut album in 2008. They have lost members, gained new ones, and lost more. 2011 seems to be their year though, as they plan to finally drop the follow-up to Whisper War, aptly titled Symphony Soldiers. The release date for this album is undetermined as of right now, but be sure to pick up a copy when this highly anticipated album finally hits store shelves.

Panic! at the Disco- Fans of Panic! at the Disco were left in shock when Ryan Ross and Jon Walker announced their split from the band. Spirits lifted, however, when the remaining two members assured fans that they would continue to make music under the old name and even bring the exclamation point back. The band’s third studio album will drop in March and is called Vices and Virtues.

Simon Curtis- This young pop superstar and former Nickelodeon actor blew up the Internet with the release of 8Bit Heart for free last year. With hundreds of thousands of downloads, Curtis built up a very strong web fanbase, and they are clamoring for more. Curtis has already said via Twitter that he will be making new music available for free download in 2011 so stay tuned for more pop greatness.

There for Tomorrow- After touring pretty extensively in 2010 and releasing an EP of exclusive remixes and reworked tracks that had much more of an electronic vibe than what TFT is generally known for. For their next album, the band is said to be returning to their roots and stripping down the music to just get back to the basics. No matter what, Maika Maile’s distinct vocal style, accompanied by the rest of the very talented band, is a sure sign that the next There for Tomorrow album will be great.

There are so many bands and artists releasing music and touring in 2011 that it is hard to cover them all. Other new releases in the new year include albums from The Academy Is…, Gym Class Heroes, The Summer Set, Farewell Fighter, Cobra Starship, Greyson Chance, Hockey and Never Shout Never (Christofer Drew and The Shout). Overall, this year is going to be a loud one will all of the new tunes to ring it in.
